Do you accept credit cards?

No. Foolish Heart is a small business and to keep boarding rates affordable we only accept cash and checks.

Do I need a reservation?

You need a reservation for boarding and grooming. You do not need a reservation for daycare.

Why would my dog prefer boarding at Foolish Heart over a pet-sitter in our home?

Dogs are pack animals by nature and prefer to be with other animals and people rather than to being left alone at home. If your dog suffers from separation anxiety, the best antidote is to keep him or her busy, active, and in the company of others. Our goal is to reduce any anxiety through mental and physical exercise. This includes socialization, toys, individual ball play and quiet time with snuggles. Our cats even enjoy play time and snuggles.

Does my pet need to be vaccinated?

Yes. The following vaccines must be current: Rabies, DHPPV and Bordetella for dogs, and Rabies and Distemper for cats.

What should I bring for my dog's stay?

  • A copy of the shot record that we can keep on file
  • Medications (in a pill case if your dog receives more than 2 pills daily)
  • Instructions for feeding and medications (how often and how much)
  • Please provide in writing your current vet's name and number and your personal contact information. (Name, address, all phone numbers, and email address)
  • You may bring anything that may help make you or your pet feel more comfortable like blankets, beds, toys, etc. (Please label all items)

Should I bring food for my dog?

We feed Pedigree for meals and use Milk Bones for treats because most dogs like these brands. But in many cases dogs are sensitive to sudden dietary changes. The more normal we can keep their routine while away from home the better!

Should I bring my pet's food and water bowls?

We use stainless steel water buckets and food bowls so we can sanitize them properly. Unless your pet is extremely picky about dinnerware we prefer to use our buckets and bowls.

Will my dog need a lead and collar?

All dogs staying for daycare or boarding must be dressed with a snap or buckle collar and name tag. Any collar will be removed that is a choke, spiked or pronged collar. This is to protect your dog from injury while in a run, crate or during play. We prefer that you keep your dog's lead during his or her stay with us.

Does Foolish Heart provide bedding and toys?

Kuranda beds are in all the runs and we provide fleece bedding. Toys are available but in most cases the dogs are too busy to bother with the toys. You are welcome to bring toys and bedding but do not bring anything expensive or that will cause heartache if damaged or lost.

Will my small dog be mixed with large dogs?

The dogs are put in play yards based on size and temperament. Small dogs are housed in a separate area from the larger dogs.

Does my dog need to be socialized?

All dogs must be people friendly. No exceptions.  If your dog is aggressive or plays too rough with other dogs we charge an additional $10.00 per day for special exercise and playtime.

Will my pet be exercised?

All dogs and cats enjoy playtime throughout the day. We offer large and small dog playgroups for social dogs and private playtime for those who are shy or frightened being around groups of dogs.

Where will my cat stay?

The cats are in a separate area from the dogs. It is quiet room and they are housed in cat condos with toys and a cuddle bed. They are allowed out a minimum of twice a day to cruise the room and use the climbing tower and scratching post.

Is your facility secure?

Yes. The entire property is fenced and all play-yards are fenced with multiple gates for safety. Our kennel also features both a security & smoke detection system that alerts local police and fire. Plus, the owner lives on site.

How often are the runs cleaned?

The kennel including runs and crates are cleaned and disinfected at minimum once a day. They are cleaned as needed beyond that. The play-yards are continually cleaned & scooped throughout the day.
